In the middle of 6th grade Tammy moved from MN to NY, where she attended Kinneret (Hebrew) Day School.

Tammy was an active student there, & quite gifted. She put together a play for Fiddler on the Roof with her classmates.
The play was presented to the entire school - students & parents. She also played one of the characters & accompanied the play on the piano. Tammy was elected to be the president of the school when in 8th grade & conducted the job & herself in it in an outstanding way, as per the school authorities.

Tammy always felt close & connected to everything related to Israel.

When a peace Treaty with Egypt was signed, in 1979, when in the end of 7th grade, Tammy wrote a full paper about the process.  She researched the details of the treaty. In her introduction she told how she enjoyed studying & researching the subject. The process concluded with a letter Tammy wrote to President Sadat .

(The Hebrew pages include the famous “Song for Peace” & more details of the treaty. )

The students of Kinneret took part in the celebration of Israel's 30st birthday along with the Jewish community in NYC: in a choir performance conducted by Margalit Fienstine, & in marching through 5th Avenue. Tammy is photographed carrying the Israeli flag & with her classmates.
